If you’ve been trying to watch Sling TV in New Zealand then you’ll probably have hit a brick wall and are missing out on tons and tons of content that is actually only available on the USA version of Sling. I’ll show you how to bypass the geo restriction and watch Sling TV in New Zealand within minutes.
Sling Television, more commonly known worldwide as Sling TV is an American internet TV streaming platform owned by Dish Network.
Sling offers two plans called Orange and Blue with the first offering more than 30 channels and the second more than 40. You can combine the two together for 50 channels. Pricing starts at $25 per month or $40 per month for the full plan.
Some of the orange channels include ESPN, CNN, BBC America, AMC, TNT, TBS and Lifetime.
In terms of sports you can get ESPN2, ESPN3, Fox Sports USA, NFL Network, NBA League Pass and BET.
Unfortunately for those living in Australia, Sling is not available, however..
Thankfully there is a simple way to unlock this content without making any changes to your home internet subscription. Believe it or not, Sling simply looks at the IP address or the DNS address of your connection to determine which content you can or can’t see.
Fortunately for us this allows us to bypass the filter and unlock all content within New Zealand.
How To Watch Sling TV In New Zealand
The next step is to decide how you plan on watching Sling TV. If you’re using a smart TV or android box, Mibox or something similar then you need to purchase a VPN service. If you’re using a Roku you need to use Smart DNS or Router level VPN.
I’ve used many different VPN providers over the last few years and the best VPN for watching Sling TV is Pure VPN. Currently you can get a 2 year subscription for $2.88 per month and they offer both router level and standard VPN services.
Step by Step Guide
Once you signup with Pure VPN you simply download their VPN app to your device. If you’re using a smart TV or android box like me, go to the app store and download their free app. Alternatively if you’re using something like the Fire TV you can sideload their app into your device.
If you’re using the router level service you’ll need to follow the instructions on their knowledge-base to setup your router. If you’re on a laptop, mac, desktop or tablet download the app they provide.
Next login to your account, connect to a USA server.
Now reload your Sling TV app or web browser and you will now have full access.
