Queenstown is a great place to visit at any time of the year, but during July when the  Winter Festival starts, and the township resembles a picture perfect image of clear blue skies and snow-capped mountain peaks, Queenstown moves up a gear. The whole area has all sorts of family entertainment both on and off the slopes.

The Queenstown Winter Festival is a series of competitions and parties both on and off the slopes. At Coronet Peak ski area there are zany snow races, in cardboard boxes or suitcases. For the true skier there are a series of serious ski racing and snowboard competitions and testing multi-sport endurance races. In Queenstown at night the party is in the streets. You can join in the fun with a downtown Mardi Gras or watch snowboarders performing spectacular flips and twists under lights at Coronet Peak ski Field. There is also a annual winter ball where you can mingle with the rich and famous at Queenstown's social night of the year with a cool mix of modern and traditional music from international musicians
