The Speight's Coast to Coast New Zealand traverses the South Island of New Zealand from Kumara Beach on the Tasman Sea to Sumner Beach on the Pacific Ocean. In either two days or the elite one day event competitors cycle 140kms in three stages, cross the Southern Alps in a 36km mountain run and kayak 67kms of grade two Waimakariri River through the Grand Canyon of New Zealand, the Waimakariri Gorge.
